  • 4 Copper River Sockeye Salmon filets
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 large garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • Zest of one orange

For seasoning the fish:

  • 3 tbsp rice flour
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp mustard powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper


  1. In a wide, shallow bowl, combine seasoning ingredients and stir to combine.
  2. Pat salmon filets dry and dredge in the seasoning mixture, being sure to coat each side. Shake off excess.
  3. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Once hot, add olive oil and ½ tbsp butter to the pan and let melt. Add salmon to the skillet.
  4. Cook salmon for four minutes on one side, or until thoroughly cooked on one side with a crispy exterior. Flip filets and cook for an additional three minutes.
